Door Crepe Paper Trap
How it's done
Create a silly blockade by taping strips of crepe paper across a narrow doorway to trap your elf in their own DIY obstacle course. Position your elf in the center of the web so they appear to be tangled up and unable to escape. This setup works perfectly for kids aged three to ten who will enjoy seeing their scout caught in a bind. Since this uses only tape and paper, the cleanup takes seconds the next morning. This fun idea is Inspired by What Moms Love.
Should be fine around pets as long as you place it out of reach.
Why this works
Entryway scenes are high-traffic and time-flexible, the elf greets arrivals whether it's 7am breakfast or a 4pm return from school. This mid-difficulty scene trades a little more setup time for a bigger 'wow' moment when your kids walk in.
Variations

If it doesn't go to plan
If the elf ends up too well-hidden and the kids can't find it, nudge them with a vague hint ("Looks like our elf went somewhere cozy"), the discovery is the point.
