Door Handle Hang

How it's done

Your elf is caught in the act of sneaking through the front door, hanging by its hands from the door handle as if it just arrived home. To set this up, simply use a small piece of tape to secure the elf arms to the lever. You can use markers to draw a tiny welcome sign for the elf to hold if you have an extra minute. This setup takes less than five minutes and works perfectly for children ages three to ten. This scene was Inspired by What Moms Love.

Pets in the house?

Should be fine around pets as long as you place it out of reach.

Why this works

Entryway scenes are high-traffic and time-flexible, the elf greets arrivals whether it's 7am breakfast or a 4pm return from school. Difficulty 2 means it uses items you already own and takes about five minutes, quick but visibly intentional.

Variations

If it doesn't go to plan

If the elf ends up too well-hidden and the kids can't find it, nudge them with a vague hint ("Looks like our elf went somewhere cozy"), the discovery is the point.
