Dry Erase Antlers Mirror
How it's done
Your elf is waiting in the bathroom with a dry erase marker held firmly in hand. The mirror is decorated with hand drawn reindeer antlers and a big red nose perfectly positioned so your child can stand in front of it and see themselves transformed into a reindeer. This is a five minute setup that requires zero cleanup since the markings wipe away with a tissue. It is a simple win for younger children who are still learning to identify their own reflection. Why this works

If it doesn't go to plan
If the elf ends up too well-hidden and the kids can't find it, nudge them with a vague hint ("Looks like our elf went somewhere cozy"), the discovery is the point.
