How it's done
Place your elf on the kitchen counter clutching a single ear of corn or a small corn decoration. Position a handmade paper speech bubble nearby that reads it is corn to reference the popular song. Kids will find the scene immediately upon entering the kitchen for breakfast. Since you only need one piece of produce, this setup takes less than two minutes to assemble before bed. Should be fine around pets as long as you place it out of reach.
Why this works
The kitchen is the first room most kids visit in the morning, for cereal, for milk, for the toaster. An elf scene staged here has the highest odds of being the first thing your child spots and shouts about. At difficulty 1, this scene is specifically designed to be set up in under two minutes. If it doesn't go to plan
If the elf ends up too well-hidden and the kids can't find it, nudge them with a vague hint ("Looks like our elf went somewhere cozy"), the discovery is the point.
