Mini Rubber Duckies
How it's done
Your elf is staging a playful bath time takeover by corralling a fleet of rubber duckies in the bathroom sink. When your kids walk in, they will find the elf perched directly in the center of the water acting as the chief wrangler. This setup takes less than two minutes to arrange and is perfect for younger children who enjoy discovering their friend in unexpected places. Why this works

If it doesn't go to plan
If the elf ends up too well-hidden and the kids can't find it, nudge them with a vague hint ("Looks like our elf went somewhere cozy"), the discovery is the point.
