Potato Head Grater Chips
How it's done
Position your elf in the kitchen with a standard metal cheese grater and a plastic Mr. Potato Head toy. Arrange the elf as if they are hard at work grating the plastic figure into a pile of pretend potato chips on the counter. This setup is perfect for younger children who will find the absurdity of the scene hilarious. Cleanup takes less than a minute since you can just return the toy to the bin. Why this works
The kitchen is the first room most kids visit in the morning, for cereal, for milk, for the toaster. If it doesn't go to plan
If the elf ends up too well-hidden and the kids can't find it, nudge them with a vague hint ("Looks like our elf went somewhere cozy"), the discovery is the point.
