Sleeping Marker Mustache
How it's done
Your elf is caught in the act of playing a harmless prank while the house is quiet. Position your elf sitting on the nightstand or the edge of the bed holding a washable marker. You can gently draw a small, light mustache on your child while they are deeply asleep or just pose the elf with the cap off to suggest they were about to. This scene works best for children ages three to ten who will enjoy finding their own silly reflection in the mirror. It is a quick setup that requires zero cleanup the next morning. Should be fine around pets as long as you place it out of reach.
Why this works
Bedroom scenes work best as an evening reveal, kids find the elf when they climb into bed. Bedtime is when a cozy, low-mess scene lands hardest. Difficulty 2 means it uses items you already own and takes about five minutes, quick but visibly intentional.

If it doesn't go to plan
If the elf ends up too well-hidden and the kids can't find it, nudge them with a vague hint ("Looks like our elf went somewhere cozy"), the discovery is the point.
