Slime Container Trap

How it's done

Your elf has gotten themselves into a bit of a sticky situation inside a clear plastic container. When the kids walk into the bedroom, they will find their elf submerged in a thick glob of store-bought slime with the lid screwed on tight. This setup takes about ten minutes to arrange and is easy to clean since the slime stays contained within the plastic. It works best for children ages three to ten who will enjoy seeing their scout in such a funny, gooey predicament. This scene is Inspired by The Soccer Mom Blog.

Pets in the house?

Should be fine around pets as long as you place it out of reach.

Why this works

Bedroom scenes work best as an evening reveal, kids find the elf when they climb into bed. Bedtime is when a cozy, low-mess scene lands hardest. This mid-difficulty scene trades a little more setup time for a bigger 'wow' moment when your kids walk in.

Variations

If it doesn't go to plan

If the elf ends up too well-hidden and the kids can't find it, nudge them with a vague hint ("Looks like our elf went somewhere cozy"), the discovery is the point.
