Smell Elf's Farts
How it's done
When kids walk into the kitchen, they will find their elf trapped inside a glass jar with a mischievous look. A small sign taped to the glass warns everyone that the elf has let one rip inside. This setup takes less than two minutes and is perfect for kids aged five to ten who love a good potty joke. Because there are no actual messes or odors, you can just put the jar back in the cupboard tomorrow morning. This silly idea was inspired by A Visual Merriment.
Should be fine around pets as long as you place it out of reach.
Why this works
The kitchen is the first room most kids visit in the morning, for cereal, for milk, for the toaster. An elf scene staged here has the highest odds of being the first thing your child spots and shouts about. At difficulty 1, this scene is specifically designed to be set up in under two minutes. Busy nights are why this one exists.
Variations
- Bigger-kid twist: For an older crowd that sees through simple scenes, step up to Buddy Four Food Groups , same room, cleverer setup.
If it doesn't go to plan
If the elf ends up too well-hidden and the kids can't find it, nudge them with a vague hint ("Looks like our elf went somewhere cozy"), the discovery is the point.
