Snowball Fight
How it's done
The living room turns into an indoor arena where your elf and a favorite action figure are locked in a showdown. You will arrange them facing each other with a handful of mini marshmallows scattered between them to simulate a heated snowball fight. It takes about five minutes to set up, making this a perfect low-effort choice for a busy weeknight. Since the marshmallows might tempt curious dogs or cats, consider placing the scene on an elevated table rather than the floor. This quick activity was Inspired by MyKidsTime.
Loose marshmallows on the floor can attract pets.
Why this works
Living-room scenes are the most photogenic. The Christmas tree, the couch, the mantel all frame the elf beautifully for the family photo you'll actually take (and maybe post). Difficulty 2 means it uses items you already own and takes about five minutes, quick but visibly intentional.
Variations
- Pet-safe version: Try Blending Elf Idea , same idea, but no chocolate, loose candy, or floor-level hazards. Swap the elements that worry you and keep the rest.
- Bigger-kid twist: For an older crowd that sees through simple scenes, step up to Canvas Self Portrait Art , same room, cleverer setup.
If it doesn't go to plan
If the elf ends up too well-hidden and the kids can't find it, nudge them with a vague hint ("Looks like our elf went somewhere cozy"), the discovery is the point.
