Stair Railing Sledding
How it's done
Position your elf at the top of the staircase railing as if they are preparing to zoom down to the bottom floor. You can secure them in a seated position using a small piece of clear tape or a pipe cleaner wrapped around the banister. This setup takes less than five minutes, making it a perfect low-effort win for busy weeknights. The scene works best for children aged three to ten who will enjoy finding their friend ready for a high-speed adventure. Inspired by Penny Pinchin' Mom.
Should be fine around pets as long as you place it out of reach.
Why this works
Staircase scenes turn the whole flight into a stage. A candy-cane zip line or TP-tube sled uses the geometry of a normal space in a way kids never expect. Difficulty 2 means it uses items you already own and takes about five minutes, quick but visibly intentional.
If it doesn't go to plan
If the elf ends up too well-hidden and the kids can't find it, nudge them with a vague hint ("Looks like our elf went somewhere cozy"), the discovery is the point.
