Vehicle Toy Parade Line
How it's done
Your children will discover their elf acting as the grand marshal of a miniature parade stretching across the living room rug. The elf leads the procession while perched in the driver seat of a toy dump truck, followed by a long line of plastic cars and stuffed animal spectators. It takes about twenty minutes to arrange the vehicles just right, but the setup is completely pet safe and involves zero cleanup the next morning. This scene works well for older children who enjoy spotting the specific arrangement of their favorite figures. This detailed setup was Inspired by Mrs. Ashley French.
Should be fine around pets as long as you place it out of reach.
Why this works
Living-room scenes are the most photogenic. The Christmas tree, the couch, the mantel all frame the elf beautifully for the family photo you'll actually take (and maybe post). Difficulty 4 is an ambitious scene that rewards the extra effort, the kind of moment kids remember years later.
If it doesn't go to plan
If the elf ends up too well-hidden and the kids can't find it, nudge them with a vague hint ("Looks like our elf went somewhere cozy"), the discovery is the point.
